Catch New Splash Spots And Adventure

Alabama Splash Adventure owners Dan Koch and his mom, Pat, have 60-plus years of combined experience in the amusement and water-park industry.

In 2017, the park was chosen as one of the top five friendliest parks in the world by readers of an amusement industry news leader. It also was named as one of the best-valued U.S. theme parks.

Alabama Splash Adventure is located where Interstates 20/59 and I-459 meet at exit 110, just minutes from downtown Birmingham.

New and Improved

Fresh for the 2018 season, Splash Island features five individual slides and an all-new interactive play area with loads of splashing fun. Life jacket and special shoes are required.

This year the park underwent its largest expansion to date. The Pirates High Dive Show, six new amusement attractions and other improvements were made during the park’s closure prior to the season.

Even at 86 years old, Alabama Splash Adventure’s Pat Koch is present at the park most days to greet guests, make funnel cakes and handle operations. She says over the past few years, they’ve introduced many valuable extras, such as free parking, free unlimited Pepsi drinks, free sunscreen, free inner tubes and free Wi-Fi.

Kahuna Waves

Think about enjoying 800,000 gallons of cool surf, punctuated by rolling 4-feet-tall waves. Guests must be at least 48 inches tall in bare feet or be accompanied by a responsible adult. Life jackets are recommended for inexperienced swimmers.

Guests also can “make waves” in the new scrambler spinning ride, yo-yo flight experience in open-air seats, tilt-a-whirl encounter, rocking tug ship, and the Royal Express train ride throughout the park.

Don’t forget the Rampage Roller Coaster at Alabama Splash Adventure was ranked as one of the top 25 wooden coasters in the world. Dan promises they will keep building on the honors the park has earned.

Wipeout Adventure Course

Wipeout Adventure Course is the world’s first 360-degree interactive water-based obstacle course where guests control the action through an assortment of geysers, sprays, overhead deluges and even hand- and foot-activated water elements. The course includes a series of ropes, towers and bridges, while blasting others with spray, from rows of mounted water cannons and unleashing flood waters from above. Participants must be 48 inches or taller.

“We have an incredible staff, and you really feel like family when at the park,” Pat says. “Everything must be spit-spot clean, and all you have to do is relax and have fun.”

Lazy Rivers

Choose one of four enclosed tubes and a full array of dizzying twists and turns on the way to a colossal splash landing via Neptune’s Plunge. Or take a relaxing inner-tube ride on the gentle currents of an endless river with secluded caves and a few soaking surprises through the Warrior River.

Additional enhancements to the park include a newly renovated Island Cafe Restaurant, additional lockers in the water park, plus more seating, shade structures, dining tables and premium cabanas. Dan says the restaurant offers more food choices, including gluten-free items. The amphitheater area was also renovated.
